Check one, Check two…

Well, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, that’s for sure!

CT is starting to getinto the groove (sorry!) about music. When we go out to the local Barnes & Noble, we go to the music section and he wants to listen. Makes me such a proud papa!

As well, XMRadio in the new Saturn is pretty awesome as well I’ve got to say. It’s nice to be able to listen to radio again…we’ve got two banks of stations programmed - a couple of jazz, a downtempo electronica station, a few classical, a couple of kids stations. Everybody is happy :)

Tomorrow CT will be three…really unbelievable you know…was it that long ago we were in South Africa? Wow…Pam’s birthday was swell as well earlier in the week. A nice dinner, an incredible dessert  - called “The Great Wall of Chocolate”, and another low-key evening with my darling…our family is in such a good space these days. Makes my heart sing.

I’m spending some time with my Numark iDJ2 these days - trying to become more proficient in mixing across tracks. The intent is not to use for “the clubs”, but to be able to work it into a rig where I can use as BGs (backgrounds) for long samples, that can in turn be fed into other parts of the system and manipulated accordingly.

It’s a bit tricky, but slowly getting there. The picture of CT here though is just wonderful - such a little engineer…

Sorry about the scrambled post…mind is zooming…

40 and counting…

Well, I turned 40 and didn’t curl up into a ball and cry afterall!

Actually my birthday was absolutely wonderful. I was originally looking at going to Chicago, but in discussions with Pam (the voice of reason) she said:

“What, are you nuts? Going to Chicago in January? Didn’t we leave Canada because of the cold weather? And now you want to go to a place that is cold and wet and damp? Are you an IDIOT???”

To which I replied,

“Yeah, good point!”

So, we went to Austin of course. Which was warmer (but still sorta cold). Because my lovely mother and father (who came down for my birthday) brought the DAMN CANADIAN WEATHER WITH THEM…

And, along with turning 40 came a tattoo (I’m a bad-ass now I tell ya!)

It’s something Pam and I have talked about getting for years (and Pam will probably get one at some point too) but for the big event I wanted something to symbolize my moving into my 40’s.

It means “Joy” or “Happiness”. Which is a personal goal for the upcoming decade. And, it complements Christopher’s middle name ‘Vuyo’, which means “Joy” or “the Happy One” in Xhosa.

Here’s to new beginnings and exciting things ahead!
